As the founder of the women’s workwear brand, Good Rapport, focused on empowering women through sustainable fashion, I was excited to attend Rent the Runways Style Sessions: Workwear Edition last week. Held at their store in Chelsea (New York City) from April 17 to 20, this event was a celebration of spring fashion tailored for every career, commute, and occasion.
The highlight of Wednesday's schedule was an engaging Ask Me Anything session with Rent the Runway CEO Jenn Hyman and Celebrity Stylist Maeve Reilly. Their insights into the essence of style as individual expression resonated deeply with me. As a brand dedicated to offering versatile yet stylish workwear options, understanding the importance of personal expression in professional attire is paramount. Learning from their expertise reinforced Good Rapport’s commitment to empowering women expressing themselves confidently through fashion. Jenn and Maeve also emphasized transitional outfits for seamless day-to-night transitions. Maeve's advice on incorporating versatile pieces and focusing on shoes and accessories to elevate an outfit struck a chord with me. It reaffirmed Good Rapport’s belief in offering timeless, quality pieces that effortlessly transition from the office to after-work engagements. I asked Maeve and Jenn about balancing personal style in professional environments like my industry of finance. Jenn offered valuable advice, urging us to leverage our style to build our personal brand. She has seen many women managing partners at Goldman Sachs who use their exceptional personal style to their advantage in the workplace.
The event also offered attendees the opportunity to update their professional headshots with celebrity photographer Kevin Tachman and to undergo a professional color analysis. It was inspiring to witness women embracing their professional image and celebrating their personal style through headshots and discovering their perfect palette. Understanding the impact of color on one's appearance and confidence is pivotal in crafting a wardrobe that reflects individuality and professionalism; two things that are cornerstones for Good Rapport.
Overall, Style Sessions: Workwear Edition was a testament to the power of fashion in empowering individuals and fostering self-expression. It reinforced Good Rapport’s mission to provide women with stylish, sustainable workwear options that enhance their confidence and professional image. Previewing the 2024 Workwear collections and witnessing the excitement among attendees confirmed our focus on creating stylish yet functional pieces for modern professionals. As we continue to innovate and evolve, events like these serve as invaluable opportunities to connect with our community and inspire positive change in the world of workwear fashion.
